Technology Description

The chemistry to manufacture Nylon 6,6 Polymer from Hexamethylene Diamine (HMD) and  Adipic Acid required the reaction of HMD and AA to produce a nylon salt and the subsequent polymerization of the salt to produce Nylon 6,6 Polymer.see diagram >>

INVISTA’s proprietary Nylon 6,6 Batch Polymerization technology is a robust and efficient process for the production of Nylon 6,6 polymer from Adipic Acid and HMD. The Batch technology is particularly suited for those manufacturers who want the ability to change product lines.

HMD, AA and Demineralized water are combined and heated to form the Nylon Salt. The salt is then fed to a batch autoclave that drives the polymerization to the desired intrinsic viscosity. The product is transferred to the pelletizer and subsequently dried and packed for shipment.

Offerings

INVISTA’s technology package will be designed for an annual capacity of 20,000 tonnes per year of Nylon 6,6 Polymer.

IPT's technology offerings include a Technology Package that comprises a front End Engineering Package (FEEP), technology & operating know-how, market knowledge and project execution resources.  The size of the plant can be configured to meet the needs of the client. IPT also offers on-going Technical Services and the potential to enter into off-take agreements with its licensees.
