Introduction to INVISTA Performance Technologies
INVISTA Performance Technologies (IPT) provide resources and technology to deliver world scale technology for licensing in PTA, polyester polymerisation for fibre and PET resin, as well as large-scale polyester staple fibre spinning machines.
IPT is broadening its licensing portfolio to include technology offerings that support the nylon and spandex value chains as well as further exploiting its strengths in polyester product and processes.
IPT has a long and varied pedigree. Many of the professionals and technicians in our organisation worked for ICI and DuPont prior to the transition to INVISTA. With a strong R&D and manufacturing background this team has revolutionised the polyester value chain.
Plant process design and project execution skills have been married with expert functional engineering and production know-how to produce a group of engineers with unparalleled expertise in the licensing of technology.
State of the art R&D facilities in the UK possess the capability to mimic plant operations and provide data for use in creating process models for both PTA and PET enhancements, including:
Joining with the R&D teams from the other INVISTA plants world-wide who manufacture and sell PX, PTA, DMT, PET fibres and resins, allow us to tap into wealth of operations and other pilot plant research facilities to explore new feedstocks, additives and catalysts for our plants. This network of facilities and people provides valuable insight allowing IPT to design the future.
Capabilities
IPT is staffed to meet the needs of our customers worldwide, to support their day to day operations and in the future to develop new technologies for PTA, PET and other value streams.
There is a breadth and depth to the services we can offer our clients and these include:
Operational Support
Engineering
Science
Business
Over the years, INVISTA PTA and PET technologies have been deployed all over the world either as wholly owned manufacturing operations, joint venture collaborations or as technology licenses.
Over 8 million tonnes of PTA technology has been licensed for start up by Invista in the period 1995 - 2007, capturing 62% of the market for available licenses. INVISTA terephthalate technology installed around the world now accounts for nearly 13 million annual tonnes of production.
PET polymerisation licensing plant capacity exceeds 9 million tonnes and over 100 plants use INVISTA technology worldwide.
